Dance of Survival: The Sorcerers of Burkina Faso

In Burkina Faso, where drought plagues the land and scarcity shapes daily life, the badgas—spiritual leaders believed to wield supernatural powers—perform rituals to summon rain.
Each year, the people of Boa village, near the arid borders with Mali and Niger, turn to these figures for hope.
The land is barren, and resources are scarce, with locals relying on each ounce of water to sustain their families and livestock.
The community's guardian, Tibo Soa, carries the ancestral traditions, summoning the bagdas to call on divine forces. The villagers dance and sacrifice, hoping these ancient rites will bring life-giving rain.
